An exciting opportunity to join a highly regarding and motivated safeguarding team, where we care about each other as much as our patients.
You will work closely with the adult and children safeguarding teams to provide specialist safeguarding advice, support and training within the Trust Maternity and Neonatal services. You will support the Head of Safeguarding in providing assurance to the Trust Board that the Trust is meeting it's statutory safeguarding responsibilities and that our processes and systems are protecting women, children and families from abuse.
You must be an experienced midwife with a demonstrable passion for safeguarding, with a keen eye for detail and confidence to challenge and escalate to ensure the best outcomes for women, children and families
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a highly visible senior midwife, ensuring the delivery and monitoring of safeguarding procedures throughout the Trust Maternity and Neo-natal Services.
Provide specialist advice, training and supervision to staff within the maternity and neo-natal services and work closely with the Safeguarding Adults and Children's Named Nurse Team to ensure there is an effective and robust interface between unborn and neo-natal babies, children and adult safeguarding.
The post holder will work closely with the Trust's Named Doctor for Safeguarding Children, Lead Consultant for Safeguarding Adults and the Lead Nurse for Child Mortality and establish close, collaborative working practices with wider partners and agencies
The post holder will drive forward any recommendations, actions and learning from internal and external reviews in relation to maternity and neo-natal services, ensuring they are promoted and embedded within the Trust through fostering close working relationships with senior staff, promoting safeguarding as a core service within the Trust, and communicating the message that safeguarding is "Everyone's responsibility."
