Job summary
This is a replacement post. It will attract 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) comprising 8.5 for Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 1.5 for Supporting Professional Activities (SPA). There will be scope to increase to 2.5 SPA sessions as extra roles within the department are taken on.The duties will be spread between Pain Management and Anaesthesia as outlined in the timetable below.For the Pain duties the postholder will be required to lead a Multidisciplinary Outpatient Clinic and cover a day case procedure list. The postholder will also be supported to gain expertise in the active management of intrathecal drug delivery systems. For the Anaesthetic commitments these consist of a regular working pattern (fixed days) but on these days there will be a mixture of set and flexible sessions. These will be dependent on the post holders areas of interest with sessions currently available covering Elective Orthopaedics, Gynaecology and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery.Consultants within the department are expected to work with Anaesthesia Associates, supervising them in a 2:1 capacity, or 1:1 on a high turnover list
Main duties of the job
- Participate in continuing professional development and attain the required standards in CPD as set by the Royal College of Anaesthetists
- Undertake Teaching and Training
- Participate in the strengthened appraisal and job planning process
- Be involved in and aware of the Clinical Governance issues of the Trust
- Participate in clinical audit
- On call 1:16 at 3%
