Job summary

This is an exciting time to join the team in a newly created fundraising and events manager role focusing on appeals, campaigns, and events during a significant period of growth for the Dudley Group NHS Charity. This is a self-funded role which is varied, highly collaborative, and strategically focused. It will require you to work independently and confidently, developing important relationships with key, and senior, stakeholders externally and across the charity, and the Trust.

Main duties of the job

You will be critical to the successful delivery of the appeals, campaigns, and events element of the fundraising strategy and to the charity's wider and exciting growth ambitions to embed fundraising and create a step change in the role of charity across the Trust.

  • You will shape and lead on a portfolio of events for the charity to ensure that income is maximised from this important income stream.
  • You will also lead the creation, planning and successful implementation of the charity's appeals and campaigns programme.
  • In addition to raising awareness of the charity within the wider Dudley and West Midlands area.

APPEALS AND CAMPAIGN MANGEMENT

To support the Head of Fundraising and Director of Communications with the creation, planning and successful implementation of the charitys appeals and campaigns programme, with the objective of raising over £250,000 per year from this stream of income. The appeals and campaigns form a major part of the charitys overall three-year fundraising strategy.

  • To research, identify and recommend new potential relationships for the DGNHS Charity to increase fundraising income from appeals and campaigns.
  • Plan, develop and implement a multi-year appeals and campaigns plan.
  • Plan, develop and implement a programme for tracking progress against appeals and campaign milestones.
  • Review, develop and monitor performance against the appeals and campaigns strategy.
  • Track, measure, and report regularly on the performance of the fundraising appeals and campaigns against targets.
  • Monitor and evaluate the joint appeals campaign governance framework including, but not limited to, the fundraising Memorandum of Understanding and Data Sharing Agreement.
  • Prepare tailored campaign briefings as required for colleagues, trust staff, board members, donors, and prospects.
  • Build strong relationship with Trust staff including divisional leads, matrons, consultants, and researchers in order to gather information on health-related projects, developments, and services where charity appeals, and campaigns could be developed.

EVENTS MANAGEMENT

  • To lead the development and delivery of the events fundraising strategy and the events portfolio in conjunction with the Head of Fundraising.
  • Deliver the proposed programme of events on budget and to timescales, ensuring detailed work plans are devised and kept up to date whilst delivering agreed annual income targets.
  • Explore and develop new opportunities for the charity portfolio, identify new ways of working as well as analysing the performance of existing products.
  • Continually review and evaluate the success of the events portfolio to achieve maximum impact.
  • To be responsible for developing internal and external relationships and representing the charity at different levels.
  • Attend external events as a representative of the charity and where needed deliver speeches outlining the purpose of the charity and its events.
  • Be the go-to person for events and to act as the point of reference for the charity in all of these activities.
  • To recruit and manage volunteers for charity events and activities ensuring retention of volunteers.
  • Work with the Head of Fundraising to maximise the potential of any corporate involvement in the events strategy, including securing corporate sponsorship of events where appropriate.
  • Work alongside fundraising team to provide event opportunities for staff at the trust to get involved with.

STEWARDSHIP

  • Shape a high quality and effective stewardship strategy and engagement programme in support of appeals, campaigns, and events.
  • Contribute to the fundraising teams stewardship of donors with innovative ideas to show our appreciation for their support.
  • Plan and deliver appropriate supporter journeys to steward supporters to increase their lifetime value.
  • Provide superior supporter care through out the whole fundraising journey.
  • Deliver timely and personalised thank you letters for all donations received from donors.
  • Work with the Communications team to deliver effective and timely pre- and post-engagement communications.
  • Follow up on and deliver actions discussed during supporter meetings.
  • Identify and establish new relationships by researching and capitalising on donor networks.
  • Engage with and report regularly to supporters.
  • In partnership with the Head of Fundraising ensure that the DGNHS Charity meets the requirements of any donation, including the offer of supporter visits, recognition opportunities, reports, PR, and updates.

COMMUNICATIONS

  • Develop and finalise appeal and campaign cases for support for the capital, research, and education priorities within the campaign and determine programme for communicating, and ensuring buy-in, from key stakeholders.
  • Promote events or fundraising activities by featuring on the charitys social media and other promotional channels such as TV or radio.
  • Contribute to the shaping and implementation of appeals, campaigns, and events communications strategy in collaboration with the charity and communications teams, ensuring the role of fundraising and the appeal, campaigns and events are clearly articulated to both internal and external audiences at every appropriate opportunity.
  • Work with colleagues in the communications and fundraising teams to identify and develop a portfolio of appeal, campaigns and events materials across different media including, but not limited to, case studies and communication of key milestones.
  • Write, edit, and proofread copy for appeal, campaigns and evets communications including news stories, website, social media, and contribution to proposals.

DATABASE

  • Ensure accurate up-to-date records of supporters, suppliers, relationships, contacts, and communications
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of pledges, donations, volunteering, gifts in kind and acknowledgments.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Produce reports, and other information as requested by the Head of Fundraising, Deputy Head of Communications or Director of Communications.
  • Follow up enquiries, meetings and presentations and check on progress to ensure outcomes can be monitored.
  • Work closely and effectively with the fundraising team to gather and collate information that will enhance the DGNHS Charitys case for support, reports. Will ensure that opportunities are not missed.

FINANCE

  • Working with the Head of Fundraising to forecast anticipated income based on appeals, campaigns, and events.
  • Liaise with the finance team and Head of Fundraising to ensure that all donations are acknowledged and coded to the correct charitable trust fund.

  • Establish and maintain high quality relationships across the depth and breadth of the Trusts hospital and community sites.
