Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - Acute Inpatients & Voice Outpatients

This post would suit an established band 6 looking to further develop their specialist skills in an acute environment or a suitably experienced band 5. The successful applicant will have a good level of experience working in an adult acute environment and managing a dysphagia caseload. You will possess excellent communication skills, demonstrate the ability to work flexibly and have a good understanding of MDT working. The position will involve delivering specialist assessment, management, and treatment for acute inpatients with both communication and swallowing difficulties. You will work closely with colleagues in the wider multi-disciplinary team and alongsideexperienced clinicians benefiting from expert knowledge and skills to support your own development Part of the role will be treating Patients in an outpatient voice clinic, including a Joint SLT/Voice clinic which takes place on a monthly basis. We have access to F.E.E.S and run a weekly video fluoroscopy clinic which has been developed in conjunction with RCSLT guidance and is delivered collaboratively with radiography.
Main duties of the job
To provide an effective and efficient speech and language therapy service to adult clients within the inpatient setting and the voice outpatient clinic's two days per week. You will manage a specialist adult caseload in this clinical area. Duties will include providing a specialist level of clinical expertise in the assessment, treatment and management of adults with voice, communication and/or swallowing difficulties, planning therapy programmes and discharge of patients.
