Job summary
This is a permanent post. Applicants must have Full Registration with the GMC, a licence to practice and be on the Specialist Register for G(I)M and diabetes and endocrinology, or within 6 months of their CCT, at the time of interview. Applicants must provide information regarding their status from the GMC and relevant Royal College at the time of application
The appointee must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Diabetes and Endocrinology, and a wide background of experience in general medicine. A subspecialty interest is encouraged.
Main duties of the job
To liaise with relevant hospital departments, nurse practitioners, allied health professionals and colleagues in primary care to develop innovative care pathways.
To work as a consultant in general medicine including participation in the medical on-call rota with other physicians.
To provide daily consultant-led review of inpatients when working the ward-based timetable, and contribute to 7-day endocrine inpatient services.
To develop sub-specialty interests, in line with service needs
To help deliver the ThinkGlucose and Putting Feet First Initiatives across the Trust
To contribute to MDT meetings in endocrinology
To work with colleagues in revising and developing policies and guidelines for the management of diabetes and endocrine disorders
To contribute to the educational supervision of trainees and medical students
