Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 Band 7 dedicated, experienced and motivated Nurses to join our Team as our Alcohol Clinical Nurse Specialist to be part of the Dudley Integrated Liver Service.

Dudley Integrated Liver Service (DILS) will be launched in early 2022 strengthening our well established Gastroenterology Team, working alongside our existing in house and community partners.

The Alcohol CNS will be responsible for the management and development of the Trusts Alcohol Liaison Team supported by Liver Lead Consultant, Matron for Gastroenterology, Management Team and DILS Coordinator.

This role falls under the Government mandatory requirement of vaccination against coronavirus. Unless you are medically exempt, the Trust will be required to ensure that you are fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Main duties of the job

The Alcohol Clinical Nurse will be responsible for the management and development of the Trusts Alcohol Liaison Service. The post holder will be a professional role model; implementing evidence based clinical practice in the area of alcohol dependency and misuse, and working closely with the existing Blood Borne Virus and Hepatology Clinical Nurse Specialists to create the Dudley Integrated Liver Service. The post holder will promote an evidence-based alcohol withdrawal management service and act as a resource for a cross-site, multi-disciplinary team of colleagues involved in the management and prevention of the physical and psychosocial adverse consequences of alcohol misuse and liver disease.

The post holder will develop protocols and educational tools to ensure appropriate referral to Trust & community-based alcohol services, with a focus on avoiding unnecessary hospital admission & will organize appropriate monitoring and audits of compliance, performance and outcome of standards compatible with best practice. The post holder will promote and maintain high professional and organisational standards, providing an exemplary, evidence based, alcohol service for patients and their families. In collaboration with other team members the post holder will deliver efficient use of facilities, manpower and other resources. The post holder will be expected to work cross site and occasionally at community venues.

  • First Level Registration
  • Educated to Diploma Level or demonstrate experience of operating at this level

Desirable

  • Educated to 1st degree level or evidence of study at degree level.

Knowledge and Training

  • A recognised course of study in teaching and assessing
  • Can demonstrate evidence of completion of Health Assessment Course and V300 Non-medical prescribing
