Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Medical Engineering Department for a motivated individual to join our dynamic, committed and friendly team. You will assist and participate in carrying out planned maintenance in both workshop and clinical environments and on a rotation basis provide a medical device management service through the Medical Equipment Library, which includes deployment, recording and utilisation to a wide range of clinical specialties. You should have good communication skills, be able to work independently, have good attention to detail and have experience of database data entry.Candidates with the appropriate entry qualifications must demonstrate good communication skills and an aptitude for differing engineering skills with a disciplined safety conscious approach. You will undertake workshop based technical training and undergo training in medical equipment maintenance procedures.
Main duties of the job
The Medical Equipment Library Co-ordinator is responsible for delivering a trust-wide service to all divisions.The teams main roles are to:
- Day to day organisation of the Medical Equipment Library(MEL) to ensure a safe and effective standard of MEL service is provided.
- Departmental parts ordering, accounting and data entry systems
- Responsible for carrying out the routine maintenance of selected equipment
- Managing and prioritising work to ensure deadlines are met
- Visiting clinical areas on a pre-determined basis to confirm equipment allocated is still in use, returning equipment not in use to the equipment library
- In the event of inadequate local supply of devices , persuading users within wards to relinquish under utilised equipment for other parts of the hospital
