Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT) - for an enthusiastic, proactive,registered nurse who would like to take the next step in your career and join our team friendly, dynamic and progressive team of finalists of the Nursing Times Awards, Winners of the Infection Prevention Society Award for Nurturing IPC Talent.

This would be an ideal opportunity for a dynamic, confident, and highly motivated nurse wishing to further their career in this specialist and pivotal field within healthcare. The role is interesting and tasks include daily patient ward rounds, providing proactive advice to patients/staff/visitors, problem solving, undertaking audits, infection surveillance, outbreak management and teaching.

This position will not be supported for visa sponsorship. All applicants are expected to have valid right to work document to work in the UK when applying for this position.

Main duties of the job

This post requires travelling to other trust premises and therefore candidates must be able to get around the trust sites in a timely and efficient manner. You must have enthusiasm to continue professional self-development and development of others. You will need to demonstrate your expertise and the contribution in maintaining and improving trust infection rates. You will need to be able to influence others, prioritise work and have a flexible approach.

IPC team are paper light in our approach, and a digitally driven, data focused team that values and fosters innovation along with continuous improvement. The role will entail being a clinically focused practitioner who works with operational staff at the point of care delivery, based on our sites and in the IPC offices.

Clinical responsibilities:

Act as an advocate for patients, protecting their rights and dignity.

Provide basic, intermediate and advanced patient care of the highest standard; taking into account own training and competence.

Ensure that all nursing records and documents are completed accurately and legibly.

Follow local and national guidelines, protocols & policies in regards to Infection Prevention & Control. Challenge peers and colleagues who do not follow these.

Take part in maintaining agreed standards for ward cleanliness. Assist with Infection Control checks and audits.

Develop the assessment, development, implementation and delivery of agreed standard of nursing care.

Discharge patients following the Nurse Led Discharge Protocol

Assist in developing innovative practices using a research-based approach.

Manage the clinical area in the absence of more senior staff to ensure effective communication between all MDT members to ensure safe & effective patient care

Use computers and various software programs to complete assessments, reports and statements relating to patient care and the ward environment.

Give competent, safe, effective and compassionate patient care with regards infection prevention, and when required infection control practices.
