Senior Physiotherapist - In Patient Rotation (Progression Band 5 to 6)

Job summary

We are looking for a Physiotherapist with excellent communication skills to join the Physiotherapy team at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust. The post comprises of a number of rotations within our service: ITU/surgery, A&E and admissions, neurology, respiratory care, acute frailty unit, Orthopaedics and off site rehabilitation unit.

Candidates

Essential experience required:

Significant post-graduate clinical experience to include participation in audit or other evidence based clinical practice activity.

Experience of working as a Band 5 Physiotherapist

Evidence of participation in In-service training

HCPC registration and CSP membership

Informal visits will be available to shortlisted candidates only.

Main duties of the job

To provide a high standard of physiotherapy service to the in-patient therapy team including specialist services in ITU, emergency medicine, orthopaedics, neurology, respiratory care, surgery, complex rehabilitation and rehabilitation in a non-acute setting, acute frailty unit. The post also requires the individual to be part of a 7 day working team for the Integrated Discharge Team (IDT) when on rotation).

Key roles within the rotational post:

The prevention of admission and facilitation of discharge in CDU and A&E, and working closely with discharge planners and care managers to provide patient follow-up in the community.

The treatment and facilitation of discharge of orthopaedic, respiratory and surgical patients, including amputees, and, working closely with discharge planners and care managers, to provide patient follow-up in the community.

The management of patients requiring specialist forms of assisted ventilation, working closely with the critical outreach team and medical staff to support coordinated care and discharge planning.

The management and treatment of patients with complex rehabilitation needs throughout the Trust ensuring communication and liaison with clinical teams and community services to maximise rehabilitation potential.

A professional attitude is essential along with the skills to work in a busy acute setting. The post is for a qualified Physiotherapist.
