The closing date is 11 September 2025
Job summary
Band 2 (with progression supported to band 3 on completion of internal competencies)
We have an exciting opportunity for a suitable candidate to join our inpatient acute medical team. The role is mainly working with and rehabilitating patients who have been admitted for an acute deterioration in their function due to an acute or exacerbation of a chronic medical condition; this also includes falls. The rehabilitation required is provided in the hospital setting and requires planning to support patients to be discharged home or receive ongoing rehabilitating in the community setting.
The role is part of a rotation across 3 specialties within acute medicine: Respiratory wards, Frailty wards and General Medical wards. The rotations occur approximately 4 monthly as staffing/service allows. The teams work in an integrated way with Occupational Therapy and team objectives are shared.
All relevant training will be provided to understand how to assess a patient, how to prescribe exercises, how to issue equipment and how to document notes.
There will be opportunity for inpatient orthopaedic weekend work on a voluntary basis. However, the job description now includes a 7 day working note as the service may be consulted on to cover weekends as part of its remit.
