Job summary

The post holder carries continuing responsibility throughout the 24 hour period for the assessment and delivery of care needs, resource management including budgets, capacity and patient pathways.

This post also carries continuing responsibility for the management of the ward team, including development of nursing staff and teaching of students.

They will be expected to provide professional leadership outside the ward area by actively contributing to Directorate and Trust wide nursing projects.

Education and Training

Essential

Registered General Nurse or equivalent
Educated to degree level or working towards
Recognised mentorship course
Evidence of continuing clinical & professional development

Desirable

Evidence of audit or research project.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

Experience at Band 6 ward level
Experience within speciality and management experience in acute or emergency setting
Knowledge of current nursing issues
Knowledge of professional responsibilities
