Job summary
We are advertising for a Locum Consultant in General Surgery withInterest in benign upper GI Surgery. To provide clinical care for patients referred to General Surgery at Dartford and Gravesham NHSTrust and other related activities to ensure a high standard of service and education. To contributeto the development, compliance and professional requirements of Trust priorities and policies.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an applicant who has experience in Emergency and Elective General Surgery to support the provision and development of service. Work as an emergency general surgeon and to be involved in a sub-specialist area of surgery that will complement the interests of the department- benign upper gi. The successful applicant will work within the multidisciplinary establishment with outpatient General Surgery clinics, an endoscopy list and elective theatre lists across both sites DVH and QMS. This post offers 10 PAs of combined direct clinical and supporting programmed activity.

The appointee would be expected to be proficient in laparoscopic and general surgery. This is a replacement post, and the appointee will contribute to the emergency general surgery service, and weekends on call rota 1:11.
The appointee is expected to undertake teaching duties and to play a full part in the clinical governance of general surgery. The Consultant will have a team consisting of a middle-grade surgeon & shared juniors at the FY1/FY2/FY3/CTs and Clinical Fellow level. Junior doctors across the department provide crosscover for leave and absence. Firm Structure will be split into two firms to support inpatient and emergency care.
