Band 7 part time neonate Physiotherapist (0.5wte 18.75 hours) - working pattern to be agreed as part of recruitment process
Our physiotherapy team has an exciting opportunity for a suitable candidate to join our neonate MDT. Our Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) has approx. 20 beds and this is a fantastic opportunity to join our growing Therapy team. The job summary is within the Main Duties section.
The suitable candidate will link closely with our paediatric physiotherapist as required.
This is a fantastic opportunity to develop both your leadership and clinical skills. We have great professional relationships all our clinical teams.
Main duties of the job
o Provide shared day to day operational management of Neonatal Physiotherapy team based at Darent Valley Hospital in planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the Neonatal Physiotherapy Service on a day-to-day basis on the wards.
o Provide leadership to the Physiotherapy team within a team based structure as a specialist within the field of neonatal care.
o As an autonomous practitioner to carry out advanced assessment and treatment of a specialist caseload of patients within Neonates
o Neonates who may have complex and/or chronic presentation, and to determine clinical diagnoses and physiotherapy treatment indicated, and to maintain records.
o To provide specialist advice to other professionals both within the Trust and outside agencies e.g. GPs, carers.
o To be responsible for teaching, supervision and appraisal of Junior Physiotherapists and undergraduate students to ensure a high quality of clinical care within the speciality.
o To adhere to Trust policies and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Code of Conduct and be guided by National Standards where they exist to develop departmental policies.
o To support with the scoping and build of neonatal high-risk follow-up services and future developments to a Level 2 Local Neonatal unit as part of an expansion of current services.

- BSc or Diploma in Physiotherapy
- HCPC registration.
- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
- Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including attendance at recent postgraduate courses relevant to the clinical field
- Clinical educator training in respect of undergraduate students
- Training in PDR and staff appraisal

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

- Significant experience at Band 6 level and able to further develop skills and be able to demonstrate advanced level of skills in musculoskeletal field
- Delivering in-service training programmes.
- Proven experience of leading effective teamwork as part of a physiotherapy team and/or multi-disciplinary team within the NHS
- Experience supervision and clinical education of more junior staff, students and physiotherapy assistants

- Working at Band 6 level in acute and community setting
- Knowledge of the workings of community physiotherapy services and experience of working with GP practices and referrals
- Involvement in audit, research and understanding quality issues and implementing change as a result
