Applications are invited for Consultant Physicians in Respiratory & General (Internal) Medicine as part of the Medicine Division here at Darent Valley Hospital. We are delighted to offer a new and exciting opportunity for substantive Respiratory Consultants to join the Respiratory team at Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust. The positions have become available following the approval of a business case for the review, expansion and innovation of our current services.
Main duties of the job
We are delighted to offer a new and exciting opportunity for Respiratory Consultants to join the Respiratory team at Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust.
Positions for additional Respiratory Specialist Nurses and Physiologists to join our substantive team are also being considered. We have recognised the need for expansion of the capacity within Respiratory to help meet the demand and offer further services to our patients
The Respiratory Department is aspiring to create a Respiratory Outpatient Clinical area with dedicated facilities for 5 exclusive outpatient clinic rooms, a (pleural) procedure room, MDT/conferencing and training facilities, and two new lung function labs. We are also developing a 6-bedded inpatientRespiratory Support Unit within the Respiratory Ward to provide monitored Level 1 care to patients with Respiratory failure

Qualifications
Essential
- GMC Recognised Medical Degree (MBBS or Equivalent).
- MRCP (UK or Ireland) or equivalent.
- CCT in Respiratory & General (Internal) Medicine or be eligible for CCT within 6 months of interview date.
Desirable
- Other degrees, e.g. BSc MSc, MD, PhD.
Experience
Essential
- Full and independent management of clinical patient workload.
Desirable
- Level 1 competent in Pleural Ultrasound
- Sub specialist interest: NIV, Sleep, ILD, Pleural disease
Clinical Governance
Essential
- Involvement and understanding of Clinical Governance and Clinical Audit.
Teaching
Essential
- Ability to teach and support learning activities of medical undergraduates, junior medical, nursing, technical and other clinical staff.
Research
