Job summary
We are looking for a Senior Sister/Senior Charge Nurse for Maple Ward:
Maple is our designated trauma Orthopaedic ward.
The ward has 30 beds; including 5 single rooms.
You will be supported by 3 Sisters (Band 6).
Trauma orthopaedic patients follow the Trauma Pathway and the ward is supported by our Perioperative older people team (POPS).
The Ortho-geriatric Team supports the ward in regards to the Trauma patients
The unit is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your role generally will be weekdays only from 09.00-17.00. You will be supported by your peers from other surgical wards and by the Matron in regards to your understanding our care pathways, documentation, Trust processes and systems of work.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will carry the continuing responsibility throughout the 24-hour period for theassessment of care needs, the development of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care.
They will also carry continuous responsibility for the management of the ward, includingdeployment of nursing staff and teaching of learners.
