Position Summary

The Manager in Quality Standards in Imaging (QSI) is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance and improvement processes within the imaging department at the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) and the broader Radiology directorate. This role ensures that imaging services meet regulatory requirements, industry standards, and organizational goals. The Manager collaborates with clinical staff, administrative teams, and external stakeholders to maintain and enhance the quality of imaging services. This position also involves significant governance responsibilities, including policy development, compliance monitoring, and reporting.Experience:- Minimum of 5 years of experience in imaging services, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.- Proven experience in quality assurance and regulatory compliance in a healthcare setting.Skills:- Strong leadership and management skills.- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.- Analytical skills and attention to detail.- Proficiency in quality management software and tools.- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation processes.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities1. Quality Assurance and Improvement:

  • Develop and implement quality assurance programs for imaging services.- Monitor and evaluate the performance of imaging equipment and personnel.- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards.- Analyze data and metrics to identify areas for improvement.- Implement corrective actions and track their effectiveness.
  • 2. Policy and Procedure Development:- Develop and update policies and procedures related to imaging quality standards.- Ensure that all policies comply with regulatory and accreditation requirements.- Collaborate with clinical staff to develop best practice guidelines.
  • 3. Regulatory Compliance:- Ensure that the imaging department complies with all relevant regulations and standards (e.g., Joint Commission, ACR).- Prepare and submit necessary documentation for accreditation and certification processes.- Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors during inspections and reviews.4. Governance Duties:- Develop and oversee the governance framework for imaging quality standards.- Establish committees and workgroups to address quality and safety issues.- Report on quality performance and compliance to senior management and governance boards.- Develop risk management strategies to mitigate potential quality and compliance issues.- Ensure transparency and accountability in quality management processes.

Clinical responsibilities:2.1 Responsible for working closely with the clinical teams to ensure the systems andprocesses are the best they can be for the management of patients attending thoseservices; working with the teams to identify where improvements can be made for thedelivery of high quality timely care2.2 Act as the first point of contact for all general enquiries from outside agencies.2.3 Responsible for ensuring all clinical pathways are adhering to the 18 weeks referral totreatment (RTT) guidance2.4 Ensure all patient and clinical details are accurately recorded, in a timely manner.2.5 Act as the senior liaison between the services, other stakeholders, and support services toensure pathways are operated in the best interest of the patient and our mandatory targets.2.6 Ensure admin staff understand the importance of ensuring all patients can access serviceswithin the appropriate clinical department, minimising patient waiting times.2.7 Ensure that the appropriate action is taken in line with the Trusts Access Policy to ensurethat all inpatient and outpatient cancellations are correctly recorded and managed on PAS2.8 Support patient engagement strategies for feedback and service improvements2.9 Update data bases as and when required to support the clinical services2.10 Undertake investigations in response to patient complaints and support the ClinicalGovernance Manager as and when required for formal responses3.
