We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and driven leader to join the executive team in Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust. The interim Chief Operation Officer is an exceptional career opportunity for a truly transformational leader to join the executive director team for a 12 month period to provide maternity cover.The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for the Trust's operational services and performance and we are seeking an experienced executive to fulfil this important role.

The Trust is a vibrant and progressive organisation providing a comprehensive range of acute, emergency, community and planned care across two main hospital sites to a population of over 500,000 across north Kent and south east London. Rated as 'Good' by the CQC, with a turnover of £373m, we are committed to continuing our journey towards being an 'Outstanding' organisation where the quality of our clinical care and patient experience are regarded as best in class for an NHS Trust.

This role is based on-site at Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford with travel to the other Trust Sites. It is preferred that the Chief Operating Officer is onsite 5 days per week, however 4 days would be considered for an exceptional candidate.

Main duties of the job

As an Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, you are responsible for leadership and delivery of the Trust's operational services and performance, ensuring high quality care and delivery of performance standards are achieved through the Divisions within the agreed budget.

All directors work as part of a cohesive team and are expected to take lead responsibility for corporate and Trust-wide outcomes above and beyond their immediate responsibilities; particularly to develop and deliver strategic transformation. Directors share responsibility and participate in the work to promote patient and public involvement to achieve the corporate objectives of the Trust and effective communications with all staff and strategic partners.

As a key member of the Executive team, you will have the ability to build credibility with, inspire confidence and demonstrably influence staff at all levels from ward to board.

As part of the Kent and Medway ICB, you will also create and maintain relationships with key commissioners, stakeholders, and relevant health and care organisation

You will line manage the Divisional Directors of Operations and have a key relationships with the divisional medical directors who lead the triumvirates in the Trust.
