The Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust is seeking to appoint 2 whole-time equivalents Trust Grade FY1 Doctor in General Surgery to be based at the Darent Valley Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The post is committed to providing General Surgical services both at DVH; undertake research, audit and support to our services.
The successful candidates will take part in a full shift on call rota (banded at 1A - 50%), and it is essential that applicants must be familiar with the UK healthcare system.The post offers excellent studying opportunities and regular teaching sessions.
You will need to have full GMC Registration with a licence to practice to be considered for this role and have completed foundation training or have equivalent experience. Computer literacy and a good standard of written and spoken English are both essential.

All F1 Doctors will be responsible for patient care and management of approximately 8 medical wards and 2 surgical wards. The post is fairly busy and offers wide range of experience in all acute medical and surgical emergencies, as well as day-to-day management of patients. This includes conducting investigations and therapeutic procedures in consultation with the FY2/ST1/2/SpR and preparing for Consultant rounds. Resident SpR and FY2 on-call cover is available at all times and many areas have dedicated senior nurse specialist to offer advice and support. The Trust runs a critical outreach team which offer advice and support on the management of critical ill patients and can facilitate the move of patients to ITU/HDU areas. Pathology and Radiology services are available on a 24 hour basis. The Clinical Service General Manager has a role in the day to day management of junior doctors and are there to provide help and support in ensuring of F1 post holders are adequately supported.
