Job summary

The Heart Centre is approximately 10 years old now and our Catheter Laboratory has recently been upgraded this will allow us to work in a state of the art environment. We have 3 Interventional Cardiologist, 2 Devices Cardiologist and an Imaging Consultant they are all proactive in pushing our service's forward.

We are opening a Community Diagnostic Centre in September 2023 at the Livingstone Hospital with Echo, 12 Lead ECG, 24 Hour tapes and Blood Pressure services

We are already well established in angiograms, Primary PCI's and elective PCI's, as well as Pressure wires and IVUS, and complex devices. Our device implant and follow up service consists of Brady pacing, ICD S-ICD'S and CRT devices, Loop implants, and Ajmaline studies.

Using our 2 Philips echo machines with 3D probes and CX50 portable echo machine we are an expanding echocardiography service.

In order to meet the needs of our developing service, we need to maintain our current friendly workforce and we are eager to employ 4 more Cardiac Physiologist to work along side the Band 7's already in post.

Main duties of the job

As experienced Cardiac Physiologist at senior level, you will possess BSc Clinical Physiology or equivalent and be RCCP registered with evidence of highly specialised knowledge in at least 1 of the areas of Cardiology (Catheter Lab, or Echocardiography) and with the appropriate accreditation in that area BSE 1-2yrs post accreditation and with commitment to help teach junior team members,

Performs transthoracic echocardiography, (TTE) using manual dexterity and precision, exercising specialist judgemental skills when acquiring images.

To produce a full, accurate and comprehensive clinical reports independently for each study, which will directly affect patient care and/or management. Responsibility for own caseload.

Job responsibilities

Performs independently transthoracic echocardiography, (TTE) using manual dexterity and precision, exercising specialist judgemental skills when acquiring images.

To produce a full, accurate and comprehensive clinical reports independently for each study, which will directly affect patient care and/or management. Responsibility for own caseload.

Responsible along with the other Band 7 Physiologist for the operational responsibility of the department on a day to day basis. This includes a clinical workload (i.e. performing and/or reporting on all the non-invasive tests) as well as day to day management and supervision of staff.

To take a leading role in staff development and training as required.

Will conduct Appraisals with the other Band 7 physiologist for other members of the Department.

To initiate and participate in clinical audit within the department and to use the results to improve quality of service.

To be a specialist in echocardiography, etc. to develop competence in clinical supervision and be able to act as clinical supervisor where necessary.

You will be required to work across sites such as Darent Valley Heart Centre, and a CDC hub opening toward the end of this year when working at DVH assisting with the stress Echos and Trans-oesophageal echocardiograms,
