The Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust is seeking to appoint an International Training Fellowship in Anaesthesia, Critical care and Pain Management to be based at the Darent Valley Hospital. This post is a full-time fixed-term contract for 2 years.

The post holder will be able to fully participate in the training programme directed by the Director of Medical Education, which will include formal teaching sessions, directed and self-directed personal learning, structured appraisals and assessments.

There is an excellent Postgraduate Centre at Darent Valley Hospital. This provides lecture and tutorial rooms and a dining room. Numerous meetings for Hospital Doctors and General Practitioners are held at the centre. There are regular educational sessions and meetings covering Case Presentation, Journal club, Histopathology joint meetings, General, Urological and Vascular X-ray meetings and Mammography Meetings.

You will need to have full GMC Registration with a licence to practice to be considered for this role and have completed foundation training or have equivalent experience. Computer literacy and a good standard of written and spoken English are both essential.
The MTI doctors will be covering ITU, Obstetrics and general anaesthesia on a rotation working a shift pattern with ST3s and Specialist Registrars. The main commitment will be taking a lead in the specialist area on a rotational basis, the cardiac arrest team and in emergencies to support the ST1/2 whilst on-call.
When on-call the MTI doctors are responsible for the management of the patients in ITU and obstetric patients when covering the labour ward. They will be expected to support the ST1/2 in the management of general anaesthesia under the supervision of the ITU Consultant and duty consultant for out of hours. He/she will be a member of the Cardiac Arrest and Trauma Team.
The MTI doctors are expected to participate in the preoperative assessment of patients undergoing elective or emergency surgery and to attend theatre sessions as indicated on the weekly rota.
After initial induction and settling in period, it is expected that MTIs will work cross-site at Darent Valley Hospital and Queen Marys Sidcup.
The post-holder may have to undertake additional duties in exceptional and unforeseen circumstances.
