Job summary

This role is only open to applicants that currently work within an NHS Trust within the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System (HIOW ICS).

This role attracts a recruitment and retention premium of 20% of the basic annual salary.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Clinical Coding department at Hampshire Hospitals, We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and motivation to join our well established and busy Clinical Coding Department.

As an Accredited Clinical Coder, you will have experience of coding a variety of specialties that occur within an acute NHS organisation. You will have a flexible and adaptable approach to work and strive to create accurate clinically coded data, embracing the national clinical coding standards, rules, and conventions, to ensure the Trust data is sufficiently robust.

This role also is a training opportunity. The Trust will support training for successful completion of Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC) qualification and Clinical Coder Standards qualifications.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Coding is a unique department within NHS Hospitals supporting Business Intelligence and Finance teams within Hampshire Hospitals.

The Clinical Coding team work hard to provide an efficient, reliable, and effective service to the Trust in order to provide data on the Trust's clinical activities, by abstracting information from various clinical documents and translating into diagnostic and procedure codes.The post holder will be responsible for managing the volume of uncoded activity in assigned specialties against agreed deadlines. They will also be required to participate in coding audits and assist in the provision of high-quality information required by the Trust in a timely and accurate manner.
