Job summary

This role is only open to applicants that currently work within an NHS Trust within the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System (HIOW ICS).

Please note, this role is based in Andover.

The Project Manager will be responsible for the effective, implementation and delivery of the TLHC programme at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust working in partnership with the Clinical teams and existing Programme support.

The aim of the TLHC is to introduce a screening programme across North and Mid Hampshire to screen those aged 55 - 74 who have smoked during their lifetime to increased earlier diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer and other associated findings. The Trust is aiming to deliver the TLHC programme in October 2024

This post will support the implementation and delivery working to support and build relationships with:

  • The TLHC programme team
  • Members of the programme stakeholder group, including primary Care and The Wessex Cancer Alliance, And The NHS Early Diagnosis Team.
  • Patient and carer representatives
  • Clinicians and managers working within local provider organisations
  • Hampshire & IOW ICB
  • Provider leads (Acute Trusts and community providers), Public Health leads and other public sector organisations / voluntary organisations

Main duties of the job

  • Develop and support a governance structure for the TLHC Programme including an overarching steering group and relevant sub-groups.
  • Develop performance metrics to evaluate and demonstrate the implementation of the TLHC delivery plan
  • Work with members of the TLHC team to monitor project milestones and actions and to investigate the causes of any variance from target/plan and proactively lead the to the implementation of solutions
  • Analyse, interpret and present data to highlight issues, risks and support decision making
  • Active management of risks and issues and lead the resolution and escalation processes
  • Provide coordination of, and participate in, relevant working groups and provide project advice, expertise and support where requested
  • Provide relevant and timely project management advice and guidance to the TLHC programme
  • To ensure accurate and up to date quality information is in place to support, track and assure programme delivery
  • To lead collaborative work with partners and key stakeholders within the region and nationally, to help achieve project objectives
  • To align the project with other projects and programmes across the region to ensure effective use of resources and support the ICS and Wessex Cancer Alliance to improve patient outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with neighbouring Trusts within the region to learn from and share good practice and to develop a HIOW approach.

  • Educated to higher secondary level (or equivalent level of experience as a manager)
  • A formal project management qualification (eg APMP, PRINCE 2, Agile etc) or equivalent verifiable experience
  • Familiar with improvement methodologies/techniques such as Quality Improvement, LEAN, Six Sigma, PDSA

Desirable

  • Educated to first degree level

Experience and Skills

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience in managing projects or improvement initiatives
  • An understanding of Cost Improvement planning and delivery
  • Experience of problem solving and supporting others to develop this skill
  • Experience of facilitating and managing change within healthcare or other complex organisations

Desirable

  • Experience of clinical work in an NHS (or equivalent) environment

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and evidence of ability to motivate, negotiate, train, coach and reassure in a difficult or uncertain environment and facilitation
