Job summary

The Peritoneal Malignancy Institute Basingstoke is a national treatment centre where patients with peritoneal malignancy can be treated with cytoreduction and Heated Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC). The service is based at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on the Basingstoke site.

The Peritoneal Malignancy Institute is one of the highest volume international centres and one of only two centres in England providing treatment for Pseudomyxoma peritonei. The service therefore provides advice and treatment for patients across England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.

As a member of the administration team you will develop strong relationships across the Peritoneal Malignancy team with administrative and clinical colleagues and with colleagues in other departments.

This role is designed to support the Peritoneal Malignancy team in managing the administration of its patients to ensure there are no delays in their pathways.

Main duties of the job

  • Support the team to ensure that letters on the transcription database are typed, checked, and corrections are made where necessary to ensure the accuracy of information for patients and other professionals.
  • Support with simple data entry on the Peritoneal Malignancy systems in order to help the service maintain accurate electronic records.
  • Maintain an accurate and current filing system, ensuring letters, clinical reports, diagnostic tests results and other notes are filed in the correct patient medical reports, in either paper or electronic record systems.
  • Answer the phone and respond to voicemails and emails in a timely manner and support patient queries and those from other health professionals, seeking advice when needed
  • Collect and track medical records as required to ensure records are available when required for review
  • To ensure patient leaflets and other information packs are prepared and available when required
  • To provide support to help cover leave for other members of the admin team.
