Job summary
A wonderful opportunity has arisen for a dental nurse to work full time in our growing oral and maxillofacial surgery/Orthodontic department. The ideal person will be an enthusiastic hard working person. In addition to this, excellent communication skills are essential, as is the love of people and a willingness to put the patient at the centre of all they do.
This role is for a highly motivated individual who is able to understand patients with dental phobias and complex needs. Leading and working well within a team, communication, organisational and dexterity skills are key to this role.
Main duties of the job
- Supporting the team in ensuring that clinical services are delivered to a high quality of care that all compliance such as CQC and contractual requirements are achieved.
- To act in a professional manner at all times and to ensure that effective communication with patients and/or carers is maintained at all times regarding all aspects of their treatment.
- To work across all specialties within the department providing the necessary professional and technical support and assistance required for all aspects of patient care.
- If appropriately trained will undertake dental radiography adhering at all times to the IRMER regulations. (Radiographs to include both intra and extra oral, i.e. orthopantomography and periapicals.)
- Set up all clinic or theatre areas in the appropriate manner ensuring that aseptic techniques are adhered to at all times.
- To assist the consultant or dental team, in the consulting room, at the chair side or within the operating theatre environment, ensuring that any relevant paperwork such as case notes, consent forms and x-ray request forms are completed and filed correctly and actioned as required.
- Assist as either scrub nurse or runner in minor operations theatre.
- Maintain all aspects of health, safety and security within the department.
