Job summary

Due to the progression of our current Band 5 dietitian to a senior role, we have a fantastic opportunity for a newly qualified dietitian to come and join our HHFT team. This is a great opening for you to join a department comprising of 23 dietitians, including four band 5 posts, two dietetic assistants, three administrators and two clinical nurse specialists in nutrition, all passionate about promoting excellent nutrition and hydration care.

This role is based within the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester. However, as a close-knit team spread across both Winchester and Basingstoke hospitals, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to experience a huge variety of specialities including critical care and PN, gastroenterology, paediatrics, diabetes, HEN and oncology within this role.

We are looking for a HCPC registered dietitian who is motivated, enthusiastic and a great team player.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dietitian who can provide a high quality, evidenced based and safe dietetic service within our team at the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You will be actively involved in the promotion of excellent care in Nutrition and Hydration within the Trust.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing a high quality, efficient and effective dietetic service to a variety of delegated wards and holding a weekly outpatient clinic.
  • Developing, delivering and evaluating training to patients with specific conditions such as those newly diagnosed with Coeliac Disease or as part of the Cardiac Rehab programme.
  • Working alongside other team members, such as our Nutrition Nurses, to deliver presentations and training to other health professionals within the trust.
  • Providing effective training and development of student dietitians, including documentation and supervision, once you have completed the appropriate clinical supervision course.

About us

  • As a dietitian within our small team, you will be valued and supported to continue to develop your practice.
  • We have a variety of specialities across the hospital sites and actively encourage clinical supervision and shadowing experience in these areas.
  • We will support you to complete your Band 5 clinical competencies and you will have a dedicated senior dietitian to support you throughout.
  • You will have the opportunity to manage your own caseload on dedicated wards and build great relationships within the MDT.
  • We have regular team CPD sessions and actively encourage all staff to attend training courses, symposiums and networking events to feedback.
  • We support student dietitians from both Surrey and Winchester university and you will be enrolled onto their student supervisor training sessions.
  • We are happy to talk about flexible working - all requests for flexible and part time working will be considered.
