Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to support the vascular access team to provide excellent vascular access care to patients within Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT). The Vascular access team primarily assess patients and provide advice on and insert Peripherally inserted central catheters, Midlines and ultrasound guided cannulation. The Vascular Access Support worker role is pivotal in the delivery of high-quality care for patients requiring enhanced vascular access.

This role is Part time 18.75 hours cross site.

Main duties of the job

You will be working across both Basingstoke and Winchester sites to:

  • Maintaining a safe therapeutic clinical environment for all patients who receive intravascular access services.
  • To assist with the provision of patient information to patients.
  • To liaise with multi-professional colleagues in order to affect the timely and appropriate delivery of intravascular access services.
  • To assist in the preparation of clinical equipment in order to assist the intravascular nurse practitioner.
  • To help to maintain equipment stock levels under the supervision of the intravascular nurse practitioner.
  • Provide information and advice patients, relatives, and carers re: intravascular access within the scope of the Support Practitioner's role.
  • To participate in audits of vascular access devices against High impact interventions for the Infection Prevention and control team
  • Assist in dressing changes and line care for vascular access devices
