Job summary

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary Estates team, the Estates Fire Safety Project Manager reports to the Senior Estates Project Manager and is responsible for the delivery and technical expertise of the Trust fire safety capital project in accordance with Trust standing Financial Instructions and Managing Contractors policy. Overseeing works by contractors and consultants working on behalf of the Trust (but not limited to):

  • Fire compartment repairs
  • New fire alarm system procurement.
  • Fire door survey, repair and asset register updates
  • Fire damper surveys, repair and replacement.
  • Managing Trust Bolster account
  • Coordinate Asbestos surveys and removals.
  • Various consultants (Project contract administrator & QS, Fire Strategy Consultant)

The post holder will be the project lead for the scheme and expected to liaise with all relevant appropriate teams within the Trust (clinical, Governance, estates, Facilities, etc)

The post holder will manage the Trust approved framework contracts, tendering and contractual delivery of the project with parts already in progress.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage the capital fire safety project in consultation with the client through to works and completion of the project including post project review.
  • Producing technical fee bids for associated sub schemes e.g. fire evacuation lift strategy.
  • Financial management for the capital project using Trust standard CAPEX sheets and provide regular capital forecast for each financial quarter and subsequent financial year bids.
  • Manage specific project risk register and schedule of derogations ensuring project director sign offs.
  • Managing and coordinating ventilation duct cleaning, inspections, remedial works and fire damper installations.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure a robust specification is developed and signed off at the feasibility stage.
  • Actively and sympathetically manage in consultation with the client and divisional management all aspects of the project which may impact on the delivery of core services.
  • Responsible for procurement of assets and engaging suppliers against Trust SFI's and ensuring a change control process is undertaken for every written instruction and or approved variation.
  • Responsible for the production of contract documentation and management of contract compliance during all stages of any works.
  • To establish and maintain effective links with Executive Directors, Divisional Managers, Professional Leads and senior staff to ensure that decision making is prompt and appropriate to meet the agreed levels of service being provided.
