Job summary

The post holder will be a member of the Business Intelligence team, providing a high-quality Data Quality Improvement service. This relates to electronic patient information and serves managerial, clinical, and operational staff for strategic, business, research, and operational purposes.

The post holder will work within the BI team to ensure that the Trust has access to the necessary high-quality data and information to inform the provision of health care. This will involve the identification, validation and correction of data quality anomalies and information errors. Utilising data held within the Trust systems in addition to facilitating timely responses to ad-hoc data quality queries.

The post holder will produce and provide assurances on the progress of data quality improvement. This will form part of a wider involvement supporting the improvement team in the data assurance project and improvement projects.

The post holder will provide administrative support to the BI team in the form of supporting members of the team & oversight of the team group email account.

The post holder will support the development and progression of collaborative working, clinical engagement, and good stakeholder relationships.

Main duties of the job

  • Define, measure and identify improvements for specified Data quality Issues, ensuring ongoing corrections to anomalies are prioritised.
  • Develop a schedule of corrections and corresponding process documentation.
  • Support the creation of a baseline to track and monitor progress and illustrate the value added of enhanced focus on Data Quality Improvement.
  • Support staff across HHFT in utilising data as it is intended, focussing on enhancing data quality through the use of Trust systems.
  • Foster and influence a culture of data quality excellence, helping teams in make the link between how their own data entry directly impacts health outcomes.
  • Present data quality information to senior colleagues in BI, for their use in internal meetings
  • Support project tasks as requested by the Data Assurance & Quality Manager.
  • Promote a wider understanding of data quality and its implications throughout the Trust.
  • Support with the awareness and promotion of national and local policies, issues and initiatives relating to data quality and data collected and stored by the Trust.
  • Support with assurance that data is maintained in line with national definitions as laid down in the NHS Data Manual and Data Dictionary.
  • Alert the Data Assurance & Quality Manager of any systems and process errors and assist in their correction.
  • Support initiatives to promote the use of NHS number as a key means of patient identification and linkage.
