Job summary

A unique and exciting opportunity exists for a dedicated and resilient Information Technology or Healthcare Science Professional, to establish and grow a new service management department for a key healthcare information system at the heart of Pathology Service delivery across; Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Dorset and Salisbury.

The successful professional will be working within Southern Counties Pathology (SCP), a Pathology Clinical Network with the following member Trusts: -

o University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trusto Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trusto Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusto University Hospital Dorset NHS Foundation Trusto Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trusto Isle of Wight Hospital NHS Trusto Salisbury Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

The vision of SCP is to deliver High Quality, Safe, Effective and Efficient Pathology Services to the population of Hampshire Isle of Wight, Dorset, and Salisbury.

SCP is currently installing a common Laboratory Information Management System, based in a commercial data centre, to all member NHS and NHS Foundation Trusts in the area.

The service management department will operate as a virtual collaborative team with its team members based in SCP Trusts and working flexibly from home. This is a permanent appointment but secondments from within the NHS would be considered.

Main duties of the job

o Being the Lead Manager for operational and administrative support and guidance, including the production and distribution of Service Delivery Review reports, negotiating with suppliers, risk management, crisis management as well as organising or overseeing the organisation of meetings (including the production and distribution of agendas, minutes and action logs).

o As Lead Manager being responsible for operationally managing the link Pathology IT Managers within each SCP member Trust.

o Assuming responsibility and accountability for the achievement of service objectives across the seven SCP member trusts; meeting with them and suppliers to review elements of the service contract; especially changes / amendments.

o Working within the formal PRINCE2 project management framework to assist in the delivery and management of multiple systems (including, but not limited to, Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Order and Results Communication System, Digital Histopathology and other associated upstream and downstream system interfaces.

o As Lead Manager taking responsibility for pathology IT business continuity and disaster recovery.

o As Lead Manager to be responsible for the resolution or escalation of; system failures, faults, competing configuration requirement between service users, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
