Job summary

The associate director of AHP will be responsible for providing strong and visible professional leadership to the AHP workforce across all divisions which will enable the delivery of compassionate, safe, high-quality and patient focused services. They will be responsible for the strategic and professional direction of the AHP professions.

The post holder will take responsibility for Trust wide initiatives working as part of a multi- disciplinary team, utilising a facilitative style to progress quality improvement for patients and staff. The role also has a system focus representing the Trust at a Hampshire and Isle of Wight level at a strategic level for both the AHP agenda and wider.

Main duties of the job

The associate director of AHP will be responsible for providing professional advice to the Trust on matters relating to AHP including developing a share understanding of and commitment to the vision and strategic aims of the AHP workforce as well as trust wide projects, they will be the lead for

Chair the AHP professional leads forum and present minutes at the Nursing and Midwifery committee

Produce the AHP safe staffing report for Workforce and Organisation Development committee and the monthly workforce data for the HIOW AHP supply board

Lead on AHP recruitment and retention strategy

Lead for the implementation of the Professional strategy

Lead for the implementation of AHPs Deliver National strategy within HHFT

Represent the organisation in HIOW AHP Council and faculty

Represent the organisation at SE Chief AHP forum

About us

Professional leadership

To provide strong visible professional leadership to the AHP workforce across the Trust, including the development of professional practice and clinical leadership.

Support the implementation of a clear vision and strategic direction for AHP, in line with the Trust's strategic direction and new service models.

To ensure and actively support strong professional leadership arrangements for all disciplines as part of a multidisciplinary and multi-agency approach. (In the case of the medical workforce, this will necessitate close working with the deputy medical director).

Provide expert AHP advice on professional matters such as registration, competency, professional conduct, professional standards, and leadership of the professional workforce.

Provide a high level of communication skills to effectively manage highly sensitive situations, which may be conflicting and extremely controversial as part of major organisation change and/or in relation to serious breaches of Safeguarding regulations and governance.

Provide Trust representation at HIOW, for AHP and community/MH & LD strategic pieces of work including IIC and

Participate in the Trust's Tier 2 on call arrangements
