Job summary
Thank you for your interest in this post which is part of a pilot scheme to develop a non-UK NTN training scheme for Trauma and Orthopaedics in Wessex. The post will support four candidates over a four-year period to achieve success in their FRCS Tr&Orth examination as well as to obtain a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
The aim of the programme is to support those wanting to pursue a career in Trauma and Orthopaedics in particular, International Medical Graduates or those who have not been successful in the National Selection process.
During the four-year appointment, 2 years will be spent in each trust; Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Portsmouth University NHS Trust with a secondment to a major trauma centre. Each specialty required to complete training will be offered alongside dedicated educational supervision to help with completion of competency and other requirements. The candidates will be given equivalent training opportunities to Deanery registrars in terms of on-call commitment and access to training theatre lists and clinics.
We have a dedicated group of supervising consultants across both trusts who will help to oversee the programme. The ideal candidates would be individuals who are motivated and determined to progress within Trauma and Orthopaedics, with a desire to succeed at FRCS and ultimately be eligible to apply subspecialty fellowships or consultant posts.
