Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a caring and compassionate children's nurse to join our Children's Complex and Continuing Care Team in providing safe and effective care for children and young people with complex and life limiting conditions in the home and community, and to support the development and delivery of care packages to children with continuing care needs.

In this role, the post holder will provide clinical guidance and expert knowledge in assessing, implementing and evaluating the needs of this patient group. They will provide specialist clinical skills, teaching, education and support to enable families, carers and other professionals, to engage in managing the needs of children and young people with complex needs.

Although the role is predominantly day time hours, participation is required in a 24/7 on call service, and in the provision of one to one care shifts for children in homes/schools, as required, to enable the service to meet care packages, support the rest of the team and provide end of life care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work within the Children's Complex and Continuing Care Team providing safe and effective care for children and young people with complex and life limiting conditions in the home and community, and support the development and delivery of care packages to children with continuing care needs.

They will provide clinical guidance and expert knowledge in assessing, implementing and evaluating the needs of this patient group. They will provide specialist clinical skills, teaching, education and support to enable families, carers and other professionals, to engage in managing the needs of children and youngpeople with complex needs.

  • Degree supplemented by training and/or combination of additional post registration/postgraduate specialist training, experience and/or short course, CPD or equivalent
  • Teaching/assessment qualification

  • Experience of working for minimum of 2 years within a service providing care for children with life limiting/complex needs
