Full time/ Part time hours available

This role is offered on a full time/ part time basis, this means that candidates interested in working part time are encouraged to apply and will receive a salary on a pro rata basis.

An exciting opportunity has become available to work in The Meadows and Medical Day Unit. Both of these units are outpatients areas, currently working 6 days a week. The Meadows specialises in the delivery of Systemic Anti-Cancer treatments for all Haematology and Oncology patients.The Medical Day Unit supports the delivery of treatments for many medical departments in the trust to support patients with long term medical conditions.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will administer IV medications in line with treatment protocols. They will also develop skills to administer cytotoxic chemotherapy regimens and other specialist treatments.
  • The post holder will be expected to work across both units providing blood and other infusions /supportive therapies.
  • The post holder must be flexible to meet the demands of the units.
  • Ensure that all staff adhere to the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust's and local policies, protocols and procedures.
  • To be aware of and comply with Health & Safety, COSHH, Manual Handling, Infection Control and FireSafety measures

The post holder will hold the relevant competencies required to manage these patients in the outpatient setting. This would include working towards obtaining Competency in SACT delivery. An element of this role will be to support the private patients within The Meadows.

The units also provide supportive therapies so the post holder must be proficient in administering blood products adhering to the Trust's guidelines on Blood Transfusion and dealing with adverse reactions.The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and quick learner with a positive attitude towards their workAs a nursing team, we are hardworking and friendly and pride ourselves on a very high standard of patient care

  • Post registration experience
