We are excited to be advertising for an additional highly motivated Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Palliative and End of Life Care Team at Great Western Hospital Foundation Trust. The team is dedicated to ensuring high-quality clinical care and positive experiences for patients, their families and carers with life limiting diseases requiring specialist palliative and end of life care.
The ideal candidate will have a flexible and proactive attitude. They will work alongside the multi-disciplinary team, across organisational and professional boundaries, to support the delivery of clinically effective, evidence-based care that reflects current best practice for people with complex specialist palliative and/or end of life care needs.
We are looking for a nurse with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to lead, inspire and empower others. The post holder will work primarily in the acute hospital setting. Alongside direct advice for patient management, they will influence patient care through providing specialist education and training to multi-professional staff and students, statutory and voluntary agencies, as well as undertaking audits and service development within palliative and end of life care.
Main duties of the job
The Palliative and End of Life Care Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist within Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is an experienced member of staff who works within a defined area of specialist nursing care, under guidance of the Lead Palliative and End of Life Care Nurse.
The Palliative and End of Life Care Senior CNS is a positive influencer within the Trust to enhance the patient and family experience. They have the expertise and highly developed skills to interpret and communicate specialty knowledge.
The post holder will support the delivery of a comprehensive multi-disciplinary service that is holistic in its approach; evidence based and meets the individual needs of the patients requiring Palliative and End of Life Care.
Emphasis is placed on education, development and empowerment of health care colleagues and Trust employees who interact with patients who require Palliative care and End of Life support.
