Dispensary Co-ordinator - Band 4
Our friendly and progressive Pharmacy department is currently looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to join our Pharmacy Dispensary team. This role will involve maintaining the dispensary service on a day-to-day basis and providing supervisory support to the team. The post is essential to delivering a high quality dispensary service and maintaining high work standards and an efficient and safe service.
Main duties of the job
Co-ordinating, supervising and monitoring day to day operation of the Pharmacy Dispensary under the guidance of the Dispensary Leadership team in the provision of a safe and effective Pharmacy service in line with current policies, procedures and legal requirements. Be responsible for some aspects of HR and Recruitment (including but not limited to Staff Appraisal, Sickness Absence Management, Capabilities and Disciplinary procedures and processes as required in order to support and deliver trust policies).
To undertake dispensing of prescriptions in an accurate and timely manner and to use professional knowledge to ensure that such duties are performed in accordance with Good Dispensing Practice. To provide support, mentorship and training to Pharmacy Assistants and new starters in all processes and procedures associated with the dispensary service.
When necessary, to undertake medicines optimisation duties on the wards, improving the quality of care to patients in a clinical area by means of an efficient medicines optimisation system. This will include assessing patients own medicines ensuring they are suitable for use in hospital and maintaining and ordering non-stock medicines for patients.

- Dispensing accuracy accreditation. South West scheme or equivalent
- Completed or willing to work towards PWDS Final Accuracy Checking Programme.
Desirable

- Experience as a hospital pharmacy assistant, or supervisory experience in a community Pharmacy
- Recent practical experience in a busy dispensing environment
