We are looking to recruit a part time band 6 Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with a passion for working with wheelchairs users within an innovative Wheelchair Service. At Swindon Wheelchair Service we continually work to improve the client experience and enable access to fit for purpose equipment for wheelchair users. We are a unique service, jointly funded by the NHS and Swindon Borough Council, which allows us to better meet the needs of Swindon residents and continually develop the service to keep up with best practice.
This role would suit an experienced therapist with a range of clinical skills, and an interest in mobility, posture and pressure care. The majority of your work will be with adults' but the opportunity to develop your Paediatric skills will also be available if desired.
This service will be transitioning to HCRG Care Group from the 1st April 2025. The successful candidate may transfer over (under Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006) on the terms and conditions they are employed on. Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have an opportunity to utilise and develop expert clinical skills and knowledge in the areas of; wheelchairs, postural wheelchair seating and pressure care. You will be required to carry out specialist assessments and prescribe specialist mobility, pressure care and postural management equipment to meet client's clinical mobility needs.
You will have the opportunity to work alongside an experienced Rehab Engineer and the Medical Engineering team to create bespoke wheelchair and seating options for clients when required. This work will be carried out in a range of settings; including clinics, client's own homes and other community settings such as schools, nursing homes and day centers.
The post holder will receive training as required and be well supported and mentored by other experienced band 6 and 7 clinicians within the Swindon Wheelchair Service. Previous wheelchair experience id desired but not essential. You will complete specialist training in posture management as part of your essential training and have the opportunity to attend key training events such as the Posture and Mobility Group National Training Event and key supplier product updates. You will be line managed by the band 7 Therapy Lead.
