Ward Accreditation and Preceptorship Lead (Band 7)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic highly skilled and motivated Ward Accreditation and Preceptorship Lead to join our team here at the Great Western Hospital. You must be either a Registered Nurse or an Allied Health Care Professional to apply for this role and have a good understanding of the Ward Accreditation and Preceptorship framework.

You are required to have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and will need to be a highly motivated, committed practitioner who is passionate about delivering high quality education and guidance within the classroom and ward environment. You will provide expert assistance, support and exercise accountability as set out in the NMC/AHP.

The role will have a significant amount of innovation, quality improvement and pathway development If you feel that you have the above attributes, then we would look forward to receiving your application. There may be occasions where you will need to cover clinically in times of escalation.

Main duties of the job

ThePreceptorship and Ward Accreditation Lead plays a crucial role within the organisation, focusing on training and the development of staff within the academy/ward/departmental environment, ensuring high standards of clinical practice are maintained and enhancing patient care/safety/experience. The Preceptorship and Ward Accreditation Lead will lead on the co-ordination design and delivery of both the Preceptorship and Ward Accreditation Programmes developing them to their full potentials.

The post holder will be required to work with the Clinical Practice Educator Leads as well as other stakeholders across the Trust to ensure the preceptorship programme reflects the training needs of the organisation and is credible.

This role will also be responsible for co-ordinating and delivering the Accreditation programme. As part of this role, they will need to develop detailed timelines, create clear communication plans, Identify and allocate resources and monitor and evaluate progress as well as linking preceptorship to the ward accreditation goals to support patient safety and quality.

The post holder will use expert knowledge to actively promote and contribute to a positive inter-professional learning environment and foster and promote a no blame restorative Just and learning culture. There will also be an element of pastoral care support within this role.

  • Teaching and assessing qualification (FLAP)
  • Registered AHP/ Nurse with extensive acute clinical experience at ward level with live registration.

Desirable

  • Further or higher Education Teaching Certificate or equivalent
