The role holder will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to join our proactive, professional maternity team., to liaise with a number of community and hospital based services to enhance the service offered to women and their families through the direct delivery of care, and as a point of contact for support or signposting.
Please be aware that should you commence employment before the 1st October your commencement salary will be in line with the 2023/2024 Agenda for Change pay scales and any backpay will be in effect from your start date and payable as of October 2024.
Main duties of the job
You will start at band 3 if you do not have the Newborn Hearing diploma, then uplift to band 4 on completion of it.
Planning and providing care in partnership with women, their families and other health and social care professionals.
Support the delivery of integrated maternity services to women and their families during pregnancy and postnatal period.
To carry out fundamental midwifery procedures as are delegated by trained members of midwifery and nursing staff, which has been taught, subsequently supervised and in which the Maternity Support Worker has proved him or herself competent.
Carry out New-born Blood Spot and New-born Hearing Screening following discussion with the parents and in line with policies and procedures.

- Committed to within the first 12 months undertaking trust training program, care certificate including some private study, and completing competency framework
- Committed to within the first 12 months undertaking Diploma in Newborn Hearing, which includes some private study, and completing a Diploma in newborn hearing
- Training and /or competency in the following: o Patient vital sign observations. o Venepuncture o Neonatal observations
Desirable
- NVQ 3 in healthcare or equivalent
- Training and /or competency in the following: ? Blood glucose monitoring ? Newborn hearing screening ? Newborn Blood spot screening. ? Newborn Jaundice Screening
- Diploma in Newborn Hearing Screening
Experience

- Significant and relevant work/social experience within a health care environment, which has utilised skills and knowledge that could be of benefit to the post
- Previous experience of working with members of the public
