Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

CT/MRI Cardiac Clinical Specialist Radiographer

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

The Radiology department is fully equipped, boasting two 128-slice Siemens CT scanners, two 1.5T Siemens MRI scanners, digital screening rooms, and modern US machines. Currently, there are ongoing projects to install a new Cardiac CT scanner and a SPECT CT. Additionally, we utilise regular on-site CT and MRI vans/static scanners to handle extra workload.

This presents an excellent opportunity for a seasoned CT/MRI Radiographer with NHS experience who is eager to advance their career in operational management and engage with cutting-edge equipment. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the installation of the new Cardiac CT scanner - Siemens Drive - and will be responsible for the setup, implementation, and continuous management of a radiographer-led Cardiac CT service. While there is an established inpatient cardiac MRI service, plans are in motion to expand this to outpatient services in the future.

For any inquiries, please contact Clare Webber, CT Superintendent, at 01793 605356.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will be responsible for managing and leading the Cardiac CT/MR service, which includes organizing the workload and staffing, with a focus on establishing and implementing a radiographer-led service in both areas.

The appointee will ensure that operational standards are met to deliver an effective and progressive service. Effective communication with modality superintendents is crucial to manage staffing levels appropriately, ensuring a safe, efficient, and responsive service.

The appointee will also be actively involved in the department's governance, with particular responsibility for CT/MR in areas such as image quality, legislation related to the use of Ionising Radiation, risk management, Health & Safety, and audit activities within the cardiac service scope.

Maintaining the CT/MRI cardiac service with staff training to perform in line with the Trust's policy, including comprehensive competency assessments, is essential to maximize patient flow and ensure the resource is used efficiently and effectively.

Managing Cardiac protocols is a key part of the role, and the appointee will need to collaborate closely with specialty consultant radiologists and cardiologists to plan and implement any necessary protocol changes or developments as new imaging techniques are introduced.
