This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our Admin Team in SwICC.
Working on Orchard Ward alongside the Nursing and medical team, you will be the welcoming first point of contact on the ward and would provide a variety of administrative tasks which will include minute taking; admitting and discharging patients using dedicated IT systems; booking complex transport for outpatient clinics and discharges; and liaising with our Discharge Coordinators to ensure a smooth patient experience throughout the ward stay.
Possessing a confident friendly approach, we are looking for someone who is good at establishing meaningful working relationships and can think outside the box to get the job done.
You will need excellent IT and literacy skills particularly in Microsoft applications and have recent experience of administration work.
Previous NHS experience and medical terminology would be advantageous but not essential, however, we need you to be organised, proactive and able to work under pressure.
Main duties of the job
- Work from Ward/department reception being the focal point of contact for patients and visitors as well as colleagues
- Support staff by undertaking administration duties on Orchard ward
- Act as a contact point for ward patients and relatives and other visitors. Respond to all queries ensuring confidentiality is maintained.
- To keep the patient administration systems up to date and accurate at all times, including amending patient demographics, the input of admission, discharge referral and transfer information
- To progress chase patient referrals and track all health records to ensure their current location is recorded as per Trust policy.
