Job summary
We are looking for an outstanding individual keen to develop a role in academia complemented by a clinical role working in an acute hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for a pharmacist looking for a unique cross sector position. This joint appointment with the University of Bath will involve working collaboratively with other practice educators to design, deliver and assess practice based learning elements of the pharmacy undergraduate degree course including our very successful Clinical Learning in Practice (CLIP) model. The successful individual would be required to cover a range of face to face teaching activities and elements of assessment. There is also a requirement to provide pastoral support to individual students. As a clinical pharmacist there is the opportunity to practice as a non-medical prescriber in our theatres admissions lounge. The post holder will divide their time equally between working as a practice educator and practicing as a clinical pharmacist.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will primarily be expected to design and deliver high quality teaching to undergraduate students on the MPharm programme. The teaching will include (but is not limited to) lectures, workshops, applied pharmacy practice skills sessions and supervision of dissertations or projects. Primarily the teaching commitment associated with this role will be at GWH.
- The post holder will also be expected to participate in the assessment and marking of the undergraduates verbal and written skills and undertake a pastoral role for the students during practice based learning activities.
- The post holder will be responsible for liaising between the University of Bath and GWH to arrange a suitable timetable for the practice based learning activities. The post holder will be expected to deliver the teaching during the practice based learning visits and where needed arrange suitable support from GWH colleagues to help deliver the teaching/supervise the undergraduates.
- The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of specialist clinical pharmacy services to defined specialties/areas as agreed with the clinical lead.
- The post holder will work collaboratively with senior pharmacy and medical staff.
- The post holder will also be expected to contribute to the ongoing operational provision of the pharmacy service, as per department rotas, to meet the needs of the service - evenings, weekends, bank holidays
