The Pharmacy department at Great Western Hospital want to give you this rare but incredibly rewarding opportunity to lead our Pharmacy Aseptic Service whilst we deliver our newly built Aseptic Services facility. The supply of high risk injectable medicines to our service users is currently outsourced to commercial suppliers however by winter 2023 we intend to have our first dose prepared locally providing an improved service for our patients.
You will be surrounded by senior pharmacists and technicians who are highly skilled and experienced in Aseptic Services who have worked in different Trusts and settings throughout their career, and supported by Senior Leadership who are invested in your success within the service.
Due to the dynamic nature of the changing service model and the facility programme, it's recommended candidates get in contact with GWH Pharmacy regarding this position and their opportunity to imprint on the service delivery. This is an interim post to cover maternity leave of the existing Service Lead.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for leading the delivery, management and development of the new Section 10 specialist aseptic services within pharmacy including leading on the facility and service commissioning and validation whilst being responsible for the safe and cost-effective aseptic preparation of sterile injectable products; cytotoxic chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies and Centralised Intravenous Additive Service (CIVAS.
Responsible for leading the delivery and management of an outsourced Aseptic Service providing commercially obtained ready to administer high risk injectable medicine including dose banded cytotoxic drugs, monoclonal antibodies and parenteral nutrition.
To Act as Accountable Pharmacist for the Pharmacy Aseptic Unit as defined in Quality Assurance of Aseptic Preparation Services (QAAPS) and responsible for ensuring compliance with national standards and guidance for the unit i.e. GxP.
Responsible for providing expert advice in specialist areas of high risk injectable medicines (including stability and compatibility data, aseptic preparation, appropriate facilities and risk management of preparation) to relevant Trust groups, senior management and service users.
Responsible for leading and developing pharmaceutical quality system (PQS) and audit activities within the Pharmacy Aseptic Unit.
