We have an opportunity for a Band 6 Specialist Podiatrist to join our integrated Podiatry service . We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual, someone to join our small team and provide Podiatry interventions and use specialist knowledge in order to promote clinical excellence.

The podiatry service prides itself on an integrated approach to support our patients and colleagues. Working within the integrated care and communities division it will allow you the opportunity to work closely with our many community and acute colleagues and teams.

If you have an interest in developing yourself and others then this is the role for you, as you will champion student placements and act as mentor for a podiatry apprentice within the team.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of Podiatric care to a variety of patients with a wide variety of clinical needs including: High-risk, Diabetes, Neuropathy, Chronic disease, Wound management/ tissue viability, MSK, Patients with mental illness or learning difficulties.

To be responsible for the referral of patients who require the intervention of other professionals and other departmental specialist areas, by following agreed departmental referral pathways e.g. into the acute podiatry pathway or to podiatric surgery

To act as a champion for student placements and as a mentor for a podiatry apprentice within the team.

Job responsibilities

To work under as an autonomous podiatrist within the team and manage your own caseload.

To deliver podiatric interventions to a caseload of patients utilizing both remote and Face to Face delivery.

A a specialist Podiatrist you will have an extensive level of knowledge and skills that are gained through your professional career. This will be complemented with both practical and theoretical knowledge.

To be professionally responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of Podiatric care to a variety of patients with a wide variety of clinical needs including: High-risk, Diabetes, Neuropathy, Chronic disease, Wound management/ tissue viability, MSK, Patients with mental illness or learning difficulties.

To have highly developed physical skills, precision hand/eye co-ordination for prolonged periods and as required when carrying out surgical techniques and specialist debridement.

To maintain and develop skills and knowledge to deliver a range of interventions that will enable you to support our Community Nursing colleagues.

You will have the opportunity to develop as an integrated podiatrist to work with a range of colleagues across the integrated services from experienced community podiatrists, diabetes leads, Podiatric surgeons, MSK specialists and community nurses.

To be actively involved in the provision of Foot Health Education to patients, relatives and carers.

To be responsible for the day-to-day planning of personal workloads in relation to the completion of home visits and to residential homes or ward visits as appropriate.

To act as a mentor and or supervisor for junior colleagues, student and podiatry assistants
