Job summary

The postholder will be working across our Acute Medical Unit inclusive of Same Day Emergency Care, Shalbourne Medical Admission Unit, Short Stay Unit, Medical Expected Unit and Linnet Ward.
Duties will include assessing patients, carrying out management plans and writing clear, concise and accurate electronic discharge summaries. Cooperation with nursing staff and other members of the multi-disciplinary team (pharmacists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists, dieticians) is vital.
While this is not formally recognised as a training post, we would expect post holders to gain similar experience to those on recognized training posts and use this as a springboard to achieve a competitive post in the future. You will be encouraged to discuss your career aspirations with your supervising consultant at the commencement of your post.
Main duties of the job

Clinical Duties:
- To be part of the Acute Medical Unit Team at the Great Western Hospital
- Take a history and examine patients
- To identify and synthesize problems
- To prescribe safely
- To keep an accurate and relevant medical record
- To complete discharge summaries at the time of patient discharge and be responsible for the describing of discharge medication.
- To manage time and clinical priorities effectively
