Job summary
This is an opportunity to work on the main Atrium reception of the Great Western Hospital.
The role will consist of data inputting, dealing with patients, members of the public and staff with the ability to communicate at all levels and to maintain a high quality of service. You will be required to work without close supervision, using your own initiative when dealing with any enquiries that may arise.
Excellent communication skills are required with the ability to handle sensitive and distressing situations.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide a high standard reception service for the hospital, receiving, assisting and directing patientsand visitors to the appropriate ward or department in a courteous and effective manner.
2. Deal with general telephone enquiries as well as those concerning the location of patients within thehospital.
3. Input admission data for any patients who are admitted directly to the wards or from outpatient clinics.
4. Validation of daily inpatient reports to ensure all activity is recorded and a high standard of dataquality is maintained.
5. Use of electronic patient systems including the Trust's Patient Administration System and the nationalNHS Spine.
6. Develop and maintain a knowledge information governance and data protection legislation.
7. Maintain a high level of confidentiality when dealing with sensitive issues in the reception area.
8. Manage a variety of administrative tasks including processing insurance claim forms, issuing ofparking passes and undertaking ad hoc data quality checks.

- Liaise with other hospital staff and volunteers as required, including the Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS), parking attendants, hospital transport, wards and clinical areas, and bereavement services.
- Flexibility to cover reception hours during periods of annual leave and sickness absence.
- Assist with the training of new staff.
