We have a new and incredibly rewarding opportunity to join our Senior Dispensary Leadership Team in the role of Dispensary Manager - Quality & Compliance. You will be responsible for all elements of quality & compliance related to dispensary services. Working in a fast-paced environment, you need to be a resilient and a forward-thinking individual, that shares our values and passion for delivering and maintaining the high standards required to provide a pharmacy service. You will need to bring your depth of experience, knowledge, and a proven track record in service delivery, to demonstrate your part in contributing to a core dispensary service provision.
Main duties of the job
The post holder willact as compliance lead in all aspects of regulatory and professional requirements, including GPhC and RPS standards for dispensary services including managing, organising, and monitoring adherence through qualitative audit methods.
Key responsibilities of this post include:
- To be responsible for monitoring and adherence to the GPhC and RPS standards relating to patient services and compliance required to successfully support CQC inspections.
- To provide senior operational leadership and take appropriate action to manage operational issues on a day-to-day basis across the service and department as required to ensure continuity of service is maintained.
- To ensure all dispensary service and related standard operating procedures (SOPs) are tracked, reviewed, and updated to reflect highest standards of medicinal safety and professional practice.
- To contribute to the development and upkeep of policies, strategies and plans to ensure that pharmacy dispensary services meet quality standards and KPI's as defined in the Pharmacy service specification
- To ensure all new and in post staff are compliant, suitably inducted, trained, providing assurance all modules in dispensary training manual are successfully completed.

To act as compliance lead in all aspects of regulatory requirements (internal and external) for dispensary services including managing, organising, and monitoring adherence through qualitative audit methods and review.
To ensure dispensary services adhere to professional standards set by GPhC and RPS including staff appropriately trained, developed, and competent in their roles to support delivery of safe and effective medicinal services.
To work as part of the dispensary management team in providing a range of pharmaceutical supply services across dispensary, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation to promote safe handling and storage of medicines on behalf of the Trust.
Quality & Compliance
- To be responsible for monitoring and adherence to the GPhC and RPS standards relating to patient services and compliance required to successfully support CQC inspections.
- To ensure all staff are compliant, suitably inducted, trained, providing assurance all dispensary training is successfully completed
- Ensure compliance through qualitative audit methods, including monthly inspections, through coordinating and managing all WDA license requirements and completion of actions.
- To work alongside advanced medicines optimisation technician (CDs) to provide documented assurance to meet all controlled drug storage, safe handling (including dispensing) and for supplies for all wards and departments.
Leadership & Management
- To provide senior operational leadership day-to-day across the service and department and work in collaboration with other service managers, agreeing plans to ensure adequate provision of staff / resource as required.
- To form part of the Dispensary Senior Leadership Team making autonomous decisions in relation to dispensary services as appropriate.
- To undertake the management of staff including recruitment, induction, appraisals, absence management, performance review and annual leave allocation.

- NVQ / QCF Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent plus accredited underpinning knowledge (BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent)
- Accredited Checking Technician qualification or be eligible and willing to work towards accreditation which will be completed within 12 months
Desirable
- Management qualification / equivalent knowledge built with experience to post-graduate Cert or diploma or equivalent level
