Acting Chief Medical Officer
Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Swindon, on the edge of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Beauty, provides acute, primary and community care to thousands of patients across Swindon and the surrounding areas each year. We're looking for a Acting Chief Medical Officer for a period of 6-9 months to cover for the current CMO whilst they are the interim CEO.
The appointee will sit within the Executive Team and the Trust Board with responsibility for patient safety, quality of care and lead our medical workforce.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have responsibility for the delivery of safe and effective medical and dental services of high quality across the Trust and for the continuous improvement of clinical performance, and clinical service delivery.
They will demonstrate excellent leadership and promote a culture that supports, recruits, nurtures, develops and retains a compassionate, skilled and flexible team. This includes enabling diversity & inclusion in all its forms, a culture of learning and improvement and an ability to deliver workforce innovation.
About us
Swindon is one of the fastest growing areas in the country and to help meet demand we are currently upgrading a range of services on the Great Western Hospital site through our Way Forward Programme, which includes an expanded and co-located urgent and emergency care service. This is a really important role, providing clinical leadership at a critical time for the whole NHS and helping us work with others to deliver our ambition for the Swindon area.
