Job summary

Jupiter Ward is a 37-bed medical ward which specialises in caring for our elderly population.

We are a unique organisation in the sense we are the only integrated provider in the Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire system.

We provide acute care for the Great Western Hospital, run adult community services across Swindon and manage primary care practices in Swindon, providing care for 30,000 patients.

Our 5,600 staff have 1.2m patient contacts a year, with 13,000 operations carried out in our Theatres, around 4,000 babies born, and our emergency attendances are now well over 100,000 per year.

Those numbers only tell part of our story about what an exciting time it is to join Great Western Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

Your personal passion for quality care and exceptional interpersonal skills will inspire and motivate your team. In return we will offer you the opportunity to enhance your leadership skills and give our commitment to your professional development with coaching, clinical supervision and role modelling from existing senior nurses.

About us

We are currently embedding a continuous improvement methodology we call Improving Together into our organisation and are equipping all of our staff with the training and support to turn their great ideas into reality.

That will help us to deliver an even better level of patient care, but we know that we need an improved estate to offer quality care too. That is why we have a large site development plan underway, called our 'Way Forward Programme', which seeks to develop a more integrated, streamlined and efficient health care system that will provide an effective balance of urgent and longer term care for patients' best interests.

There has never been a better or more exciting time to join our organisation, and the opportunities for you are limitless.

Our Values

Our Star Values are the golden thread running through everything we do and help us to deliver our vision of providing great, joined up services for the community. You can expect to see our values in the way we act and the way we treat each other. Our values make us who we are.

Service - We will put our patients first

Teamwork - We will work together

Ambition - We will aspire to provide the best service

Respect - We will act with integrity
