Decontamination Equipment Specialist

Job summary

Under the direct supervision of the Trust authorised person, the Decontamination Specialist will undertake the engineering services for decontamination units across the trust. Key duties will include weekly testing and routine maintenance of all decontamination equipment and associated ancillary equipment. You will ensure that all work is carried out to a high quality, within cost and time constraints and in a safe manner.

Main duties of the job

  • Work under the supervision and guidance of the authorised person until competency has been achieved, assessed and signed to permit next level of indirect supervision.
  • Ensure you are familiar with all risks associated with your allocated tasks before undertaking any work whilst adhering to safe systems of work.
  • Ensure all work undertaken does not compromise the quality management systems designed to protect risks to product.
  • Ensure the safety of all plant when work is undertaken on the plant, meeting all statutory regulations and guidelines.
  • Under the supervision of the authorised person become familiar with different types and manufacturers of decontamination equipment used across the trust

  • Become familiar with basic diagnosis of faults on decontamination equipment.
  • Report all defects to Authorised Person or in their absence the Head of Service.
  • Keep users informed of current equipment status and actions taken to control risks.
  • Participate in on-call duties as required and when competent to do so.
  • Participate in training internally and externally as required for the post.
  • Liaise with Head of Service and Authorised Person on matters relating to decontamination equipment providing feedback on equipment condition.
  • Maintain the upkeep of records of weekly test and fault/breakdown reports as generated.
