Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Matron lead for our Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) team. As an integrated Trust, this role will involve leadership and management of IPC practitioners working in both acute and community settings.

Main duties of the job

The Matron for IPC is to be a visible leader in GWH's acute and community services, with clinical expertise in the field of IPC and decontamination. The post holder will be an expert specialist nurse, manager and budget holder for the acute and community infection control services, providing clinical and managerial leadership.

They will, in conjunction with the Director and Associate Director of Infection Prevention and Control, provide operational leadership of IP&C and service delivery, implementing and delivering the IP&C annual plan.

The Matron for IPC will also promote, influence and develop knowledge in respect of infection control practice through networks of education and training, to minimise the risk of healthcare associated infections.

Develop team, set objectives and or quality improvement projects / co-ordinate activities to achieve objectives.3. Manage the IPC Team to ensure an effective and efficient service to patients and staff through leadership and supervision, robust governance processes, support and development to provide quality care to patients based on best practice4. Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with infection control teams in both the local Acute healthcare trusts, local Clinical Commissioning Groups and Public Health England (PHE).5. Operationally manage the team and service resources effectively.
